Oxford versus Cambridge.

July 7th, 2009 Lonnie

There is an age old feud between Oxford and Cambridge for who is best.  I’m in Cambridge at the moment for a “British Association for Cancer Research” conference.  I’ve had a little look around Cambridge in the time i’ve been here (mostly fueled by the need for a drink- ie pub visits) and think I can make up my mind.  Oxford is a much better place!  I don’t say that just because it’s my hometown, but ’cause I think it’s a nicer size.  I will reserve my final judgement though as my boss and i plan on hitting the Cambridge Wine Shop before we leave…

Well if it is decided by who has the oldest church then it looks like Cambridge wins! How old is that one?

No, Kings College Chapel started being built in 1446. Merton College chapel (in Oxford) started being built in the 1280′s. By 1446 there were 11 colleges at Oxford!
