Uffington Show

Filed under: thoughts — Lonnie @ 6:28 am

Uffington show is a true country show here in the UK.  The only thing I missed out on was the large vegetable competition… but I’m told the Thame show has this highlight (later in September - i’ll keep you posted).

My highlight was probably the guy herding geese with sheepdogs…

More photos here (sorry about the quality, I forgot the camera and had to use my phone)

Just in case you didn’t know what this was, it had a sign…

  1. I know what that is - it’s an Allis-Chalmers row crop tractor. Check the height of the front axle which is that way so it doesn’t knock the tops of the cauliflowers and cabbages around. Oh and anything else you have growing in your market garden. I gather they had a display of cars, tractors, motorbikes and even ride-on mowers. But why did it take 4 sheepdogs to round-up those geese? I liked the little grey Fergie with the 2-furrow moldboard plow. I’ve got one of those plows but the Fergie has gone along with my Cyclops scooter.

  3. So there must be some sort of missing harvest attachment, otherwise wouldn’t those nicely protected cauliflower plants get abused by the substantially lower rear axle?
