What a way to celebrate our national mascot the Kangaroo! Bin 128 Shiraz from Penfolds. The roo fillets were marinated in red wine then grilled on a hot skillet for about 2 minutes a side before being oven roastd for a further 5 mins. Roo has to be rare or medium-rare, if you over cook it, it becomes tough. BUT more on the wine! The Bin 128 Shiraz is one of the flagship wines for Penfolds. It’s at the high end of table wines coming in at about $30. See the penfolds website for a low-down on this wine -and funny it is that they also have the Riedel glasses that we do!

We found it to have lovely fruit and it’s nice and spicey. Kate thought it a little “sweet” but I figure she just meant that it wasn’t “suck her mouth in” dry. It is fantastic now, but might even mellow a bit more with time… I only have two left though and not a lot of time to drink them in! It’s probably too pricey for Monday night drinking, but hey, i’ve got 3 dozen bottles of wine left and about 21 days.

You do the maths!

4 and a half stars!!
